Judas Priest 2009_08_07 (Phoenix, AZ – Dodge Theatre)

This tour was in celebration of the classic Judas Priest album British Steel, which was released in 1980! The band played the entire album as well as some favorites from other albums. The power of the songs performed live was totally amazing!!

This was my first time seeing a concert at the Dodge Theatre, and it was a much better place to see a large concert than the usual outdoor venues around Phoenix. The acoustics were top notch as well, and I think the recording reflects (pun?) that. I saw Priest a year ago at an outdoor venue and was impressed, but not nearly as much as this second time.

JudasPriestBritishSteelWhitesnake had to cancel due to “illness” which really pissed me off since I was at the concert as much to see them as Priest. But after the ass kicking Priest delivered I’m not sure I would’ve been ready for it had the ‘snake played before them.

  1. FYI, David Coverdale was shot at the Jul 31st show. I don’t think you missed much. Your remark regarding the acoustics is making me interested in checking out your recording. I’ve been limiting myself to shows that I went to. Must resist…

  2. Should read “FYI, David Coverdale’s *voice* was shot at the Jul 31st show.” Ah, the joys of staying up late.
